Public Network Interface

Private GSM Connected to the Outside World

Public Network Interface

The ability of users to communication with one another across a private mobile network has many advantages. In many situations, however, there is a need for these users to communicate with colleagues not connected to the private network as well as to external contacts.

Communicate across a private mobile network and the public network

Mobile phones used on the Private Mobile Network (PMN) can be connected to the outside world through a direct IP connection to an IP PBX, through an IP connection such as broadband or a satellite connection, or through a gateway from the PMN back to a traditional PBX or PSTN connection.

The choice of public network interface type is driven, primarily, by the site location, the quality of the link required and the most cost effective solution.

How the PMN Remote Site solution works

The location of supporting software can be determined to best suit the commercial and practical support and maintenance requirements of the locations. For instance, a small office will probably use a broadband connection with all software at the central site or hosted data centre. An enterprise with an existing PBX will probably have the software and servers onsite and, provided there is sufficient capacity, link through their PBX to make best use of their original investment. A remote site would be most likely to use a satellite backhaul, probably with all software at the site where support and maintenance is most easily available.

  • Fixed IP Backhaul solutions
    - Suitable for permanent deployments of a PMN where quality voice backhaul links are required
  • IP Broadband
    - Ideal for small business, remote office or home user
    - Quality of Service to ensure telephony quality is required
  • IP VPN
    - Suitable for corporate site interconnect and where voice quality over IP is critical
  • Gateway
    - Provides access from the IP network to analogue or digital PBXs and networks including the PSTN and GSM macro network
  • IP Satellite Uphaul
    - Ideal for remote locations where PSTN, mobile or IP access is not readily available
    - For mobile base station locations for rapid deployment
    - For small deployments requiring minimal on site installation
  • Remote Base Transceiver Station
    - Minimum hardware on site for rapid deployment
    - Remote Controller and Base Transceiver Station
    - More equipment on site to minimise satellite traffic
